Caps for Cash Terms & Conditions

1. Promotion name

This promotion is called Caps for Cash.

2. Promoter

Caps for Cash is promoted by GV Batteries Shepparton & Echuca.

3. Promotion purpose

Caps for Cash is a community donation trial designed to support local sporting clubs.

The promotion allows GV Batteries customers to help decide which selected local sporting club receives a donation from GV Batteries.

4. Trial period

Caps for Cash will run as a one-month trial during July 2026.

The July 2026 promotion period is:

Tuesday 1 July 2026 to Friday 31 July 2026, unless extended due to a tied result.

If the trial is successful, GV Batteries may choose to continue Caps for Cash in future months.

5. Participating stores

Caps for Cash will run separately at:

  • GV Batteries Shepparton

  • GV Batteries Echuca

Each store will have its own selected clubs, its own voting bowls, and its own $500 donation.

Kyabram is not included in this trial promotion.

6. Donation amount

At the end of the promotion period, the selected sporting club with the most caps at each participating store will receive a $500 donation from GV Batteries.

This means:

  • Shepparton winning club receives $500

  • Echuca winning club receives $500

The donation will be made by cheque, made payable to the winning club or organisation.

7. Club nominations

Members of the public may nominate local sporting clubs for consideration.

Nominations may be made:

  • in the comments on GV Batteries’ Caps for Cash nomination posts

  • by direct message to GV Batteries

  • in-store at GV Batteries Shepparton or GV Batteries Echuca

Nominations open on Thursday 11 June 2026 and close on Wednesday 24 June 2026.

8. Selection of participating clubs

Management will review nominations and select two local sporting clubs for each participating store.

Public nominations will be highly considered, but the number of nominations does not automatically guarantee selection.

When selecting participating clubs, GV Batteries may consider:

  • local connection to the relevant store

  • sporting/community value

  • level of public support or nomination

  • whether the club can accept a cheque donation

  • whether the club is willing to help promote the campaign

  • previous involvement in Caps for Cash or other GV Batteries promotions

  • overall suitability for the promotion

GV Batteries’ decision on selected clubs is final.

9. Club eligibility

Caps for Cash is primarily intended to support local sporting clubs.

To be considered, a club should generally:

  • be a local sporting club or sporting organisation

  • have a connection to the Shepparton or Echuca region

  • be able to receive a cheque donation

  • provide suitable contact details if selected

  • agree to have its name used in Caps for Cash promotional material

GV Batteries may decline a nomination if the nominated club is not suitable for the promotion.

10. Family or staff-associated clubs

Clubs associated with GV Batteries staff, family members, customers or suppliers may still be nominated and considered.

Where a close association exists, GV Batteries will consider perceived fairness when selecting participating clubs.

Final selection remains at the discretion of GV Batteries management.

11. Club announcement

The selected July 2026 Caps for Cash contenders will be announced on or around Monday 29 June 2026.

12. How customer voting works

During the July 2026 promotion period, customers who purchase a battery from a participating GV Batteries store will receive voting caps.

Each battery purchase gives the customer two votes, represented by the positive and negative battery terminal caps.

Each cap counts as one vote.

Customers place their caps into the bowl for the selected club they wish to support at that store.

13. Number of votes

Customers receive:

Two votes per battery purchased.

For example:

  • 1 battery purchased = 2 caps / 2 votes

  • 2 batteries purchased = 4 caps / 4 votes

  • 3 batteries purchased = 6 caps / 6 votes

Battery size, type or price does not change the number of caps/votes.

14. No purchase, no vote

Voting is only available to customers who purchase a battery during the promotion period.

People cannot vote without purchasing a battery.

15. Customers who do not wish to participate

If a customer does not wish to choose a club, GV Batteries staff may suggest placing one cap in each bowl to support both clubs.

If the customer does not wish to participate at all, the caps will not be counted and may be discarded.

16. Counting votes

At the end of the promotion period, GV Batteries will count the caps in each club bowl at each participating store.

The club with the most caps at that store will be declared the winning club for that store.

GV Batteries may photograph or record the final bowls and/or counting process for promotional and verification purposes.

17. Tied result

If the count is tied at close of business on the final day of the promotion period, the challenge will continue one business day at a time until a clear winner is confirmed.

Only battery purchases made during the extended tie-break period at that store will count toward the tie-break.

18. Losing finalist clubs

Only the winning club at each participating store receives the $500 donation.

Losing finalist clubs do not receive a donation as part of this promotion.

19. Repeat participation

If Caps for Cash is continued beyond the July 2026 trial, the following repeat participation rules will apply:

  • A winning club cannot be selected again for 12 months.

  • A losing finalist club cannot be selected again for 6 months.

  • A nominated club that is not selected as a finalist may be considered again in a future month.

GV Batteries may adjust these rules if required for operational or fairness reasons.

20. Club promotion and sharing

Selected clubs are encouraged to share and promote Caps for Cash to their members and supporters.

Promotion by selected clubs is not mandatory. However, a club’s willingness to support and promote the campaign may be considered by GV Batteries when assessing future promotions, sponsorships or community partnerships.

21. No customer prize

Caps for Cash does not award a prize to customers.

Customers are not entering a draw, raffle or customer prize competition.

The donation is made by GV Batteries to the winning selected sporting club at each participating store.

22. Changes, cancellation or extension

GV Batteries may change, cancel, suspend or extend Caps for Cash if required due to operational issues, errors, low participation, club unavailability, suspected misuse, counting issues or other circumstances outside normal control.

If changes are required, GV Batteries will make reasonable efforts to communicate them clearly.

23. Final decision

GV Batteries’ decision on nominations, club selection, eligibility, vote counting, tied results and donation recipients is final.
